Northeast Post 630 honors a forgotten veteran

Northeast Post 630 - Blue Ash, OH

American Legion Northeast Post 630 annually participates in the Memorial Day parade and ceremony of the City of Blue Ash, Ohio. This year, the parade was canceled but the memorial ceremony on the Town Square was held. The ceremony was very special to members of Post 630 this year. They had the opportunity to pay honor and respect to a former Blue Ash resident and veteran, Billy Hoeb, who served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. Billy was a tail gunner on a B-26 and on D-Day his plane was involved in an aerial accident. All the men on board were killed. Through the efforts of Scott Kube, a Post 630 member, with an assist from Commander Jim Meyers, the city administrators of the City of Blue Ash were made aware of Hoeb’s service. The City of Blue Ash took immediate action and had his name engraved on the Memorial Monument at Bicentennial Memorial Park. The monument bears the names of those residents of Blue Ash who paid the ultimate price for their country. Due to Kube's efforts, Billy Hoeb will forever be remembered in the history of the City of Blue Ash, along with the others whose names are on the Memorial Monument.
