Rally around the flag

Rochester, NY

I visit my parent's and baby sister's graves in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Rochester, N.Y., frequently. To reach my sister"s grave, I pass through Section 29 of the south division. There are the graves of military personnel from all wars. In the middle of that section is a tall flagpole always flying our colors. But on Memorial Day 2020, I visited just the military section to honor our fallen. I stepped out of my car, came to attention, and saluted those grave sites. American flags had been placed on each grave. The flags were still. From nowhere suddenly came a westerly breeze. All of the flags began waving in the breeze in a northerly direction toward Lake Ontario. It was as though each veteran was proudly saluting our flag and our country. I was in awe!
