1956 - Itami AB, Osaka, Japan. While walking from work to the barracks, I was “caught” during retreat. A cloudy day - as retreat began, so did the rain. As several others scrambled for cover, I stopped, stood tall and proudly saluted our flag. Today, not standing quite as tall, and with the assistance of a cane, I still proudly salute and honor our American flag.
