I was in my 3rd or 4th week of Boot Camp at Ft Campbell, KY. I was beginning to wonder why I had joined the Army. Well, here we were, my whole Battalion, probably about 300 shaved-head guys and the Sergeants give us a break. So, we are all standing around and out of the blue, I hear this guy call out my name, and here comes this guy I just graduated from High School with back in Wisconsin.
We talked a little about how he and I had joined and I was feeling a lot better about my decision. I made it thru Boot Camp and moved on to other Forts but I will always remember that chance meeting.
