Georgia Post 143 hosts first Red Cross blood drive

Carrollton, GA

American Legion Post 143 hosted its first annual Community American Red Cross Blood Drive on Dec. 29, 2022. Post 143 Committee Chair Randy Purser, along with members of the post family Dyane Purser, Bill Maddox, Wanda Maddox, Auxiliary President Jeanette Henson, and Commander Ronnie Pate were instrumental in setting up the main meeting hall for Red Cross technicians and donors. They also helped with pre-registration, provided donors with drinks and snacks, and handed out long-sleeved Red Cross T-shirts. Additionally, Kevin Shuemake from Temple, Ga., was the lucky winner of a bottle of wine donated by Donna and Steve Fuller. A special thanks goes out to the community for supporting this one-day event and donating 14 pints of blood to the Red Cross. Seventeen persons originally registered, and eight of those were members of the post family.
