American Legion Post 2 is remembering our fallen brothers in arms. This is being done by placing a new cement statue as part of the flagpole by their picnic area used by the public. It was placed just in time for the Bristol Police Department's annual picnic for its officers and retirees. This year they remembered the two fallen officers who were killed in an ambush here in town.
The statue was created in Carmel, Maine, one of the first to be cast from a new form. It was transported to Bristol and placed at the base of the flagpole. It stands next to a statue of a soldier and his military dog donated some time back.
It is placed there to remember those lost in conflict and those passing from us daily.
