American Legion Oceanside Post 146 held an initiation ceremony at the Veterans Association of North County (VANC) on Feb. 27. There were 23 veterans who were accepted for membership into the Legion.
TheLegion is experiencing a resurgence in membership across the globe, which includes active duty and veterans from all wartime eras. The Legion was founded in 1919 as a wartime veterans organization. It was chartered by Congress on this basis. Membership eligibility dates parallel dates set by Congress for wartime service.
Oceanside Post 146 meets at VANC on the third Saturday of each month at 1617 Mission Ave. from 0900-1000, and offer breakfast from 0730-0900 for $8. Membership is not required.
