On Sept. 1, 1017, our post organized and planned a Veterans Appreciation Game at Rubidoux High School. This game was the first ever in this community. It was dubbed the Post 951 Veterans Classic. At this game the national anthem was sung, and shortly after the Rubidoux football team ran out onto the field carrying the colors of all branches, as well as the American Legion flag. The Air Force JROTC provided a color guard presence. During halftime the band played all 5 service hymns as well as inviting all servicemembers down to the field to be recognized before the community. Veterans got into this game for free and were provided free concessions. This was truly amazing.
