Veterans Day

Las Vegas, NV

The Las Vegas Post 8 Family will be participating in, and more importantly leading, the nation's second-largest Veterans Day parade. Las Vegas is home to numerous veterans groups, but the rules of the parade are that a "congressionally chartered" organization must lead the parade. The Post 8 Family has led the parade a number of time and is proud to do it again. Spirit of Freedom Post 76 and LD Lockhart Post/Unit 14 will also be participating in the parade. The Riders from Post 8 and Post 40-BMI Henderson will start the close to 200 entrants in marching down the middle of 4th Avenue, right past world-famous Fremont Street. There are many of us very excited about participating, and we decorate the motorcycles with red, white and blue bunting, garlands, and of course many American, Legion and state flags fly beautifully in the slight breezes the motorcycles create while moving slowly down the avenue. After the parade there are numerous other events. The Veterans Home is hosting a classic car show, and there is an event at the Cold War Monument in the picturesque backdrop of Red Rock.
Post 8 hosts an open house to all parade participants and spectators every year and serves free food to close to 300 people. We are looking forward to celebrating our veterans in Las Vegas! Welcome Visitors!!
