Praise for Father Bristol, the newest Navy chaplain

Bellerose, NY

I would like to praise a good priest who I have gotten to know - Father Mark Bristol. I know of his love of God and country. He is a most dedicated priest and is loved by all he has served at St. Anastasia Parish in Douglaston, N.Y. The Sunday of Memorial Day weekend, on May 26, he was sworn in at St. Anastasia Parish as the newest U.S. Navy chaplain, and on July 1 he will station aboard USS Theodore Roosevelt, an aircraft carrier. He is a member of American Legion Post 103 in Douglaston, as I am as well. About three years ago, as a recently ordained priest, he bestowed upon me healing and blessing as I was about to be operated on for an aggressive prostate cancer a week later. Well, I survived and maybe it was due to Father Bristol's love and concern for my well being. In closing, as a fellow Navy veteran, bless you, Father Mark Bristol, for all you will be doing for our military men and women who will also need your loving care. You will be greatly missed at St. Anastasia Parish and in the communities of Douglaston and Little Neck, N.Y.

Editor's note: Mr. Bedell is the grand knight of St. Anastasia Knights of Columbus council # 5911 and a member of American Legion Post 103.

Sincerely Yours,
Frederick R. Bedell Jr.
