Each year on the Friday before school starts, the Royse City American Legion post joins the community in providing fun and games to local children. The post provided a game and prizes for the kids, and they also provided over 40 backpacks to local children. "It's always fun to see the kids' faces when they win a prize or get a backpack," said Commander Rosa Ortega.
In addition to the Legionnaires being present, the American Legion Auxiliary and American Legion Riders helped host the booth. The post also uses this event to recruit new members; this year, they recruited one new member and received renewals from two other members.
