Maryland delegate Dan Cox is supporting an effort initiated by Auxiliary member Fleming Suzanne and SAL member Josh Marks of Francis Scott Key Post 11 to implore Congressman Steny Hoyer to co-sponsor HR 553 to repeal the widows tax.
Cox, who has a son in the Army and has a military family history, enthusiastically jumped at this effort. He immediately put it at the top of his priorities. He crafted a letter to his fellow Maryland House delegates and asked them to sign on as well:
“Dear Maryland Leadership:
On behalf of FSK Post 11 and Maryland Veterans and Goldstar Mothers and their families, please see our attached letter of support for the Veteran Spouse/Child Tax Relief bill HR 553. Please let me know if you will join in signing on and I will add your name. Thank you.

Suzanne and Marks are elated. “We couldn’t be more pleased. When we spoke with him about our effort, he said I’m in and it’s going to be a priority” said Marks. He added, “It’s so gratifying to see a politician who makes the time to listen, research and immediately respond to a constituent's request.”
