Santa and Twisp Post 143 help make a family's Christmas

Twisp, WA

The officers of The American Legion helped Santa on Christmas Eve to deliver holiday cheer to a family in Twisp, Wash.

The post chaplain Caroline Groninger, Santa/post sergeant-at-arms William (Skinny) Robinson, and first vice commander Keith Morden, with my wife Donna Morden, delivered gifts and holiday cheer to a single mom with two jobs and her two kids, a boy of 4 and a girl of 10.
.
My wife told me about a struggling family who was not going to have much of a Christmas and asked if the post did anything like that. I told her that we needed a little more time than a week, but I would try. I texted our chaplain and within an hour she texted me back from a Walmart in the next town and said "what do I get?" My wife got on Facebook and the donations poured in, and a local church offered to pay their rent for a month to take some more stress off of the family.

The looks on the kids' face when Santa got out of the car (landing space restricted) made everyone's holidays.
