World War II veteran celebrates 96th birthday

Springfield, PA

Jack Crawford, a World War II veteran from Springfield, Delaware County, Pa., celebrated his 96th birthday on Jan. 8, 2020.

Mr. Crawford has been a member of Springfield American Legion Post 227 for over 50 years.

Members of Post 227 celebrated his birthday with a cake, thanking and honoring him for his military service in the Army Air Corps in World War II and many years of volunteer service to the community through the Springfield post.

In 2016, Mr. Crawford’s name was added to the Springfield Volunteer Wall of Honor, an honor bestowed on longtime volunteers to the Springfield community.

An award of recognition was also presented to Mr. Crawford by Mr. Larry Healy from the office of Pennsylvania State Rep. Jennifer O’Mara.
