Daniel R. Olsen Post 594 provides flag education for adults

Eagan, MN

On July 9, Daniel R. Olsen American Legion Post 594 conducted a U.S. flag education presentation at the monthly meeting of the Minnesota Valley Christian Women’s Connection luncheon. Post members provided flag history, etiquette and folding instruction, as well as reviewing examples of unserviceable flags with the group. As a 6’x9’ flag was folded, the meaning of each fold was explained. “We were happy to be invited. This was a unique opportunity for the post, as we normally only provide flag education to the first-grade classes or to the Scouts at our annual Flag Day event,” said Post Commander John Flynn. Flynn added, “We really appreciated the meaningful interactions with the attendees and their thoughtful questions.” The post also provided flag etiquette pamphlets and a handout detailing the meaning of each flag fold to the 40+ attendees.
