Virtual Veterans Day Ceremony

Post 93 conducts virtual Veterans Day ceremony

Eastsound, WA

As with most public events this year, The American Legion’s Veterans Day ceremony could not be open for public attendance – not even for veterans. Rather, a virtual ceremony was conducted and videotaped by Erin and Emily Bennett of Orcas Video, so it could be viewed by all those who wish to ‘attend’ from the comfort of their homes. The ceremony included Commander Patricia Ayers; Laura Leicht, Auxiliary President; Mel Winsor, Chaplain & Rifle Squad; Dave Resch, Vice Commander & Rifle Squad Leader; Ron Wallace, 1st Vice Commander & Rifle Squad; Dennis Corkery, Rifle Squad; Roland Hachee, Post Membership Chair & Rifle Squad; George Jackson, Post Sergeant-At-Arms & Rifle Squad; Bill Perry, Rifle Squad; and Mick Stevens, Bugler.

The few of us gathered together to pay tribute to and honor our fellow veterans who have served and continue to serve for the protection of our country since the American Revolution. To our veterans, current and former; Airmen, Soldiers, Sailors, Marines, Coast Guardsmen and members of the United States Space Force – of all ages, races, religions and creeds – who have engaged in combat, stability and humanitarian operations and support; we salute you. Simply put, without you, there would be no freedom, liberty and justice for all; there would be no America. To all our fellow veterans, thank you for your service!
