Missouri's Malta Bend American Legion Post 558, in conjunction with Malta Bend School and the Community Blood Center (CBC) of Kansas City, held their first blood drive for 2022 on Wednesday, Jan. 26. A total of 40 units of blood were collected from 32 donors. Twenty-four donors provided single units, while 16 units were from eight donors using the ALYX (double red blood cell unit) collection process. Of these, two were first-time donations.

According to CBC, this was the 17th blood drive sponsored by Post 558 and Malta Bend School. A total of 559 units of blood have been collected by CBC since their first recorded blood drive on Aug. 27, 2014.
