Malta Bend Memorial Post 558 enjoys a close relationship with Malta Bend School, from co-sponsored blood drives and a Veterans Day breakfast and program attended by many members and area veterans, to oratorical and scholarship participation. To show their appreciation, school leaders came down the road to our Legion hall and presented members with a great dinner. School Superintendent John Angelhow prepared the main course of pork ribs and sauce, Jackie Hyde provided ham and beans and cornbread, Susan Angelhow brought coleslaw, and Amy Givens provided a great dessert. Post members remarked that the usual banter at any other dinner was toned to a hush this night as everyone was busy enjoying the meal.
