Local Legion members attend Missouri's Fall Conferance

Jefferson City, MO

The American Legion Department of Missouri held their Fall Conference at the Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City on Oct. 21-23, 2022. This included all four components of the American Legion Family, which includes the American Legion Auxiliary, the American Legion Riders and the Sons of The American Legion, in concert with The American Legion. The conference included general meeting sessions of various formal committee meetings, and informal training sessions. Some specific topics included Legion Baseball, suicide prevention, leadership training and veterans assistance training, along with multiple specific subject-matter training sessions. As part of the general session, an awards ceremony was held to recognize achievements accomplished during the previous business year, 2021-2022. These include awards for best Post Newsletter, best Post History Book and awards to individual posts for excellence in Community Engagement. Malta Bend Memorial Post 558 was awarded first place in their category for their newsletter and history book, and received their seventh continuous award of the “Toot Our Horn” award for continued community engagement. This represents a full press by post leadership and members. The American Legion also presents awards for areas of Americanism and Children & Youth support; Malta Bend Post 558 was seventh-place winner for Americanism, but won first place for Children & Youth. These reflect the heavy lifting of all post members during the 2021-2022 year.
Members of Malta Bend Memorial Post 558 and other area posts attended the conference and participated in training, committee meetings and other presentations.
