In 1966, I joined the Air Force and was sent to Lackland AFB for basic training.

When I was finished, I was transferred to Shepard AFB in Wichita Falls TX.

While in line waiting for my orders, I noticed a guy about 100 ft. away staring at me. It turns out this guy also was going to Shepard.

To make a long story short, we were married 3 months later and have just celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary.

No one thought the marriage would last because we had just met for the first time on May 27, 1966 and were married on August 27, 1966.
