For the past 16 years, American Legion Post 233, Loganville, Ga., has held an annual Ride For America. Each Memorial Day our post hosts a fully escorted motorcycle parade from Loganville through north Georgia to Madison, Ga., where a memorial service is held. At Madison, the city stops everything, closes down its streets and welcomes our riders, the city citizens, and all veterans and their families for this service.
This event started with a desire to show our support to our fellow veterans and raise funds to support The Legacy Fund of The American Legion. There were 47 motorcycles for the first ride. Today, more than 900 motorcycles, honored guests, and support vehicles make up the Ride for America. With this and other programs at our post, we show our fellow veterans they are not forgotten, have been able to donate over $100,000 to The Legacy Fund, and show the citizens of Madison, Ga., how much we appreciate them and their community!
After our return to the post, also fully escorted, we enjoy camaraderie with other veterans, meet people who have traveled from different states to join this ride and enjoy some of the best BBQ north Georgia has to offer. If you wish to participate in the ride, donate to our effort, or need more information about the Ride for America visit our website at: http://rideforamerica.org/wp/ or contact Stan Mauldin, firstname.lastname@example.org (404) 922-2457.
