Sons Squadron 347 in Lady Lake, Fla., held a fundraising golf tournament on May 13, 2023, and raised $20,000 for the Child Welfare Foundation! Over 130 golfers and many volunteers got together at Harbor Hills Country Club to have a fun day of fellowship, friendly competition and fundraising. Many local Sumter, Lake and Marion County businesses contributed thousands of dollars in donations and gifts, in addition to a raffle and silent auction. A luncheon and awards ceremony were held at the post after the tournament. During the year the squadron also donated $12,000 in scholarships to three local high schools, $6,000 to the Tri-County Special Olympics, $1,500 to a local Junior ROTC organization and $7,000 to the Fisher House in Gainesville, among many other donations. The squadron raises half its funds by cooking and serving three meals every week at the post.
