My time in service

Seguin, TX

At 16 (a member of the U.S. Air Force), I was sent to Fort Sam Houston and was trained as a combat medic. I served in Korea 1958-1959. I re-trained in 1962 and became a B-52 engine technician. Served in Guam and Thailand during the Vietnam War, 1966-1969. Returned to the United States and was trained on the new FB-111 in Fort Worth. Re-trained in 1972 by the U.S. Army at Fort Monmouth as a television engineer. Re-trained in 1977 as a recruiter, the position I held when I retired in December 1978. I joined the Texas State Guard in 1991 and served 18 years, as a company commander and then communications officer, retiring as a major.
