On January 11, 2024, members of Ocean City American Legion Post 524 traveled to Staten Island to present an $11,000 check to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation CEO and Chairman Frank Siller. The funds were raised by veteran members of Post 524, along with Squadron 524, and Sons of the American Legion members.
“This marks the second year in a row that Post 524 has contributed a check in this amount to Tunnels to Towers,” said Post Commander Bob Marzulli. “The foundation provides invaluable aid to catastrophically injured military veterans, first responders and Gold Star Families, and recently housing homeless veterans nationwide. Overall, 95.9% of all donations going directly to individuals.”
The Tunnels to Towers Foundation was formed as a tribute to Siller’s brother, Stephan, a New York City firefighter, who sacrificed his life to help others during the 9/11 attacks. The charitable organization seeks to remind people that even in the face of tragedy, there is hope through kind acts and generosity.
Post 524 looks to also solve our local issues. For several years in a row, we have assisted in housing homeless veterans in our own county. Last year, in Ocean City alone, we served over 4,000 meals to senior veterans and their widowed spouses. These meals were all hand delivered by our post members.

We are very thankful for our civic and business community leaders who have supported all our fund-raising efforts.

In addition to the generous donation check, Commander Marzulli gave CEO Siller an American Legion Post 524 baseball cap, a Challenge Coin in recognition of his special humanitarian achievements and an honorary membership card to the post.
