PACT Act roundtable at American Legion Post 209, Colorado Springs, Colo.

Colorado Springs, CO

Neal Thomas Jr.-Centennial American Legion Post 209 in Colorado Springs, Colo., was privileged on Thursday, Dec. 15, to host a roundtable discussion by VA, attended by VA Secretary Denis McDonough, on the PACT Act. Good information related directly to this new legislation that expands coverage and service-connected disability to veterans from Vietnam all the way through current war periods for exposure to toxic fumes was presented and discussed by McDonough. VA is conducting PACT Act open houses and other events this week at various locations from Puerto Rico to Seattle to make veterans and VSOs aware of the new legislation and how to apply for consideration from exposure during their service. VA is encouraging veterans to apply before Aug. 9, 2023. Having the VA secretary take time out of his very busy schedule to visit our Colorado Springs event shows how important this new legislation is to VA. More events are scheduled at the Colorado Springs Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) to promote and educate our veterans on the impact this new legislation has on their ability to receive quality care related to their exposure. Post 209 considered it a high honor to be chosen to host this event and welcome VA Secretary McDonough.
