Upholding the Four Pillars

Greensboro, NC

Chartered in November 1919, Henry K. Burtner American Legion Post 53 of Greensboro, N.C., has lived up to the Four Pillars of The American Legion: Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation, Strong Defense, Americanism, and Children & Youth. Since 2017, Post 53 donated a thousand pounds of food and other items to the Servant Center here in Greensboro, upholding the first pillar, Veterans Affairs & Rehabilitation. The post, through its weekly bingo games, collects food along with having food drives to support the Servant Center. The center's mission is to empower homeless and disabled veterans to become independent, contributing members of our community through housing, health care and restorative services.
On Tuesday evening, June 27, Leah Murray, director of marketing and development for the Servant Center, presented Post 53 with their Platoon Challenge Coin and a Certificate of Appreciation for all the support the post has provided the center.
