Rep. Crockett (D-TX), with Runnels.

Legislative Council at Washington Conference

Dallas, TX

During the Washington Conference, newly appointed National Legislative Council member Tynetta W. Runnels was able to walk the halls of Congress with her Department of Texas Adjutant Bill West and another awesome Legionnaire. They visited 13 Texas congressional offices.
Runnels met with Rep. Crockett (D-TX) and staff on March 1. She introduced herself as a National Legislative Council member and that she was The American Legion's point of contact for Crockett's District 30. She discussed key points from the Legion's legislative priorities; discussed future town-hall forums for veterans to discuss issues/concerns, i.e., Be the One, housing issues. They also confirmed having a roundtable event for Women Veterans Day in June 2023.
Runnels truly enjoyed the Washington Conference and fulfilling her mission. She looks forward to March 7-9, Texas Legislation Week in Austin, as she and fellow Legionnaires will walk the halls of the State Capitol.
