Semper fi, beginning in basic

My fondest memory: Platoon 339 Third Recruit Battalion
Marine Corps, Parris Island, S.C.
Graduated: Dec. 1, 1958

Drill instructors: Staff Sgt. G. R. Wade
Sgt. W. H. Miller
Sgt. F. G. Foster

Two of these Marine drill instructors without hesitation climbed to the very top of the confidence course's log ladder to unwind a three-month graduating fellow Marine, who was petrified by the height. One drill instructor held his head and arms, and the other drill instructor held his legs. They then carried him all the way back down to the ground and safety. Semper fi.

My worst memory was when I mailed my graduation book back to my land lady in Boston, who informed me that the painter must have taken it.
