Dad Wrote Daily

I attended basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas, in March of 1981.

Every day at mail call I received a letter from my Dad describing every day happenings in our family and community with his humorous flair.

The letters were so comical that I began reading them out loud to one of my fellow airman. After a couple of weeks many airmen would gather to hear my Dad's funny commentaries.

When I returned home before being stationed, Dad revealed to me that when he was in basic training the best feeling was to get mail during mail call.

He made sure I got that feeling every day for six weeks!
