Air Force BMTS, May 1985. Recruits were wearing dress blues for the last week. It signified that they were almost complete with boot camp. Two recruits entered the Chow Hall and were halfway through the line when a TI noticed they still had their cover on. They both quickly removed them, but it was too late. The TI brought both of them to the center of the Chow Hall, pulled an empty table out and made them stand on the table. The TI then ordered everyone, about 800 recruits, to stop eating and pay attention. He announced what these two recruits did, and informed everyone that since they were wearing blues, they had been here for a while. Long enough to know to uncover when entering a building. So, they must have had defective equipment issued to them. The two recruits then held their cover at arms length, and spanked them. After every hit they had to yell, "BAD HAT, BAD HAT". The entire audience was laughing so hard at them it was hard to finish chow. One of my favorite memories of boot camp.....
