Camden County (N.J.) Legion Family and Team RWB Philadelphia join forces to "Be the One"

Merchantville, NJ

Frederick W. Grigg Post 68 of Merchantville, N.J., co-sponsored an awareness walk with Team RWB Philadelphia (Red, White and Blue) to bring awareness to veteran PTSD/suicide.

On Saturday, June 24, Post 68, Team RWB Philadelphia and Legion Family members from throughout Camden County and beyond showed support and walked as a group supporting our veterans and the Be the One campaign. Funds were raised through the event to support service-dog services and awareness as well as VA&R. Donors received a ruck patch with an image of local service dog Sarge. The patch stated, "Sarges '22' Challenge saving lives one paw at a time." Sarge is the service dog of event chairperson and Legionnaire John Brouse.

The event was held for the seventh year. The walk is held annually each June as part of PTSD Awareness month to "Be the One".

"Team Red, White and Blue is thrilled to continue our partnership with The American Legion and John Brouse, former. Camden County Legion commander and current veteran engagement coordinator for the Philadelphia chapter of Team RWB for this important awareness event," noted Heather Jordan, current Pennsylvania/Delaware state coordinator for Team Red, White and Blue. "Team RWB's mission is to enrich the lives of veterans by forging America's leading health and wellness community of Veterans. We do this, in part, by delivering and promoting. opportunities for veterans to engage and connect in meaningful ways." Events such as Sarges 22 Challenge create space for our members, veterans and civilians to put in sweat equity, break down walls, share stories, and take action in support and celebration of one another as well as bring awareness to PTSD and suicide."
