Education

Sebastian, FL

Korean War veteran.
Having left college in 1951 (lack of funds), I joined the U.S. Navy. Upon being separated from active duty (honorable), I returned to L.I.N.Y.
While obtaining an entry-level job with education and experience in electronics learned in the Navy, I realized the benefits of Public Law 550. I entered college for night courses (now Hofstra University). After six years of night classes I earned a BBA (Business Administration).
I investigated my benefit to obtain a VA-insured home mortgage. (no money down). I bought a home and supported my wife and two children.
I am now 84 years old and my wife and I have retired to Florida.
I am a life member of American Legion Post 39, Department of Florida,
and a proud member of Chapter 318 of the Korean War Veterans Association.
I receive health benefits through VA.
So the American Legion-originated GI Bill has helped me and more than 60 years later still helps me.

Very truly yours, William J. Duggan
