The Oratorical Contest student sponsored by Ryan Winslow Post 911 is headed to the Department of Alabama competition.

Bailyn Murphy, a junior at Hoover High School, will compete on March 30, beginning promptly at 10 a.m. at the Department of Archives and History building in Montgomery, Alabama, located at 624 Washington Avenue.

For the prepared oration part of the competition, she spoke on "Inspiring Freedom: When My Voice Wasn't Heard"

Murphy won the Division 2 competition on March 2 at First Baptist Church of Pelham.

She was first at the District 21 competition on February 17 at Shades Mountain Baptist Church in Hoover.
