Hill 296, Korea, May 29, 1951

I have a story of my father's efforts to save his platoon during an ambush on a ridge line of Hill 296. His bravery did not go in vain, as he saved 15 of his fellow comrades. There was a price for this - my father, Sgt. Wilfred Weisheit, lost his life. I have all the dates and statements from those who survived the battle that day.

I know what combat feels like, as I have three Purple Hearts from the Vietnam conflict.

This is a story that needed to be told to everyone. I also know the pain my mother suffered from the loss of her husband and what happened to me.
