On May 29, 2023, Hanover County, Virginia, held it’s Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony.

The County Veterans Committee is chaired by George Navas, vice commander of the 13th District and past commander of Post 175 in Mechanicsville. Nine of the 10 current committee members are Legionnaires; the remaining Legionnaires are:

The guest speaker at the event was Phillip M. Brashear (CWO5, retired), son of Navy Master Chief and Master Diver Carl Brashear, whose life story was depicted in the movie “Men of Honor.”
