Every year the Cameron, W.Va., Legion post presents the Field of Flags, and volunteers along with Legionnaires commit to placing the flags for the observance. This year the annual event grew to 1,120 flags representing Veterans from every service being honored for their service in a community of less than 1,000 today, placed in alphabetical order with the name, branch and rank for the family and friends to easily access. The Cameron Baptist Church also contributed veteran care boxes for any veteran in need of personal care items, for either men or women veterans. A service is held on Memorial Day with brief speaking and the presentation of honors by the Post 18 honor guard.
