Veterans Day at the Gold Star Families Memorial

Forks, WA

About 60 people braved the weather today to attend the annual Veterans Day Ceremony at the Gold Star Families Memorial Monument at the Forks Transit Center.
Amazingly, blue skies prevailed through the entire ceremony! Joe Wright, from Forks' American Legion, reads a poem from Stars and Stripes, the U.S. military newspaper, called “Puptent Poets.” The poem was submitted during World War II by a soldier. Wright's father-in-law was the foreman in the first shop that printed the Stars and Strips newspaper.
Meg Rasmussen offered TAPS (despite having an injured hand). Pastor George Williams from Forks Bible Church offered a short message and prayer.
