Mary Garcia, commander of Holley-Riddle Post 21, is the recipient of the 26th District of Texas Congressional Veteran Commendation for 2023.
Commander Garcia was presented this prestigious award at the annual Highland Village Business Association Salute to Veterans luncheon on November 10, in front of over 300 veterans and guests, including 24 members of Post 21 supporting their commander.
Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. read the award which covered Mary’s achievements during her time in the U.S. Air Force as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer and then as a proud member of the American Legion. The citation read in part, “for honorable service performed while a member of the Armed Forces of the United States of America and for continued beneficial service to the North Texas community. Major Garcia’s patriotism, loyalty and dedication demonstrate the highest model of military service."
Along with the citation, Mary was presented the Congressman’s coin and a flag flown over the U.S. Capitol. Congratulations Commander Garcia!
