American Legion Post 303 in Rockville Centre, New York, honored local law enforcement, firefighters, and emergency medical professionals at their annual Law and Order Night on October 6, 2023. The event recognized several individuals for their service to the community.

Rockville Centre Police Officer Michelle Tetonic received an engraved Glock pistol donated by Glock for her contributions to the local police department. The custom engraving was done by Dark Storm Industries. Tetonic was moved by the recognition of her service.

Rockville Centre Honorary Fire Chief James McCarthy accepted an engraved and framed axe as the Fire Department Awardee. McCarthy has served the community's fire department for over 30 years. EMT Francis Murray was surprised with an award, unaware that he had been chosen to receive the honor.

As mayor, Francis X. Murray was humbled to be recognized among the other esteemed honorees. The American Legion post also heard from two young men they sponsored to attend American Legion Boys State earlier this year. Ken Andorfer and Nicolas Vergara Barrios summarized their experiences at the leadership program and how it impacted their lives.

Retired Police Commissioner James Vafaedes was presented with an engraved derringer donated by BOND Arms. Joey Hedberg of BOND Arms attended the event and received American Legion apparel and apparel from the police department.

The final surprise award of the night went to U.S. Congressman Anthony D’Esposito for his
service in both police and fire departments. He received an axe-mounted plaque with the seals of
the American Legion, Congress, and NY-04 district.
