Harford Post 39 & Town of Bel Air, MD hold 34th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony

Bel Air, MD

Bel Air, MD - Harford Post 39, in conjunction with the Town of Bel Air, Maryland, held their 34th Annual Memorial Day Ceremony at Shamrock Park in Bel Air, MD. Attended by well over 300 people, this was viewed by many as the best Memorial Day Ceremony they had ever attended. Patriotic music was presented by soloist CW2 Don Teesdale (US Army, MD Nat'l Guard) accompanied by the Bel Air Community Band. Many military honors were given, including the laying of memorial wreaths by various organizations to include Harford Post 39, SAL Squadron 39, and Auxiliary Unit 39.

The ceremony, hosted by past post commander Dick Gebhard, lasted approximately 90 minutes and included guest speaker CWO5 Sase "Roy" Singh, USMC (Ret.) and Southampton Middle School 7th Grader Jakob DeMarino. Jakob was the winner of his school's 7th grade essay contest entitled, "What Memorial Day Means to Me". The ceremony concluded with a rifle salute by the CPL Pete Arnold Detachment 1198 of the Harford County Marine Corps League and the playing of Taps by SFC Rob Bauerle, US Army (Ret.).
