Education and TBI, plus Four Lakota Cardinal Virtues

Garrison, ND

In the story about what I have done in my life, I have accomplished everything with a traumatic brain injury. It should also be noted that I have written two books about a legend in the Lakota culture with the help of five other elders of the Lakota Nation. The books are titled: "Will Chase: The Sioux Lands" and "Will Chase: The Black Hills" aka Chasing Hawk.

While I was living in the state of Nevada, I started the only veterans show on radio in the United States. I was the first in the area of media to bring the issues and problems of veterans to the general public, but I also talked with veterans nationwide who have accomplished in their areas of concern. I have talked with students at the various military academies and their goals after they graduate. Because of this I was the 21st veteran in the state of Nevada to be Veteran of the Month in September 2013; there are 350,000 veterans in Nevada.

In August 1976 I represented the United States at the American-Soviet Youth Forum, and I was co-chairman of two committees: the Sports Committee and the Cultural Committee. As chairman of the Sports Committee, I put a basketball team. together from our group of 56 members; we played the 1976 Olympic women's gold medalists as the Russian men's team was out of the country. And as chairman of the Cultural Committee, there were two of us men who were Lakota, and we performed some Lakota traditional Indian dances for Leonid Brezhnev, prime minister of the Soviet Union.

Also included is the Four Lakota Cardinal Virtues to help prevent suicide among veterans.

Thank you,
Robert Primeaux, Ph.D.
