Post 21 teaches tradition to our youth

The Colony, TX

Post 21 in The Colony, Texas, volunteered at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery for the annual Wreaths Across America Day on Dec. 17, 2022. Building on the theme of Remember, Honor, Teach, post member Wayne Ford brought his grandson Parker and his friend Aden to experience the tradition of honoring our veterans who have passed on. Legionnaires carry the responsibility of being role models to our youth. While placing wreaths, Post 21 adjutant Patricia Zuczek noticed a young girl following her around the cemetery, imitating her salute. Patricia talked to her, explaining why we say the veteran’s name out loud while reverently placing the wreath. The young girl’s name is Ava and she said she wants to join the Army like her dad. Post 21 is proud to be part of a program that honors our deceased veterans and also sets the example for our youth and tomorrow’s leaders.
