Run/walk to bring awareness to violence, raise money for youth charities

The American Legion Family of District 21 in Alabama will host a Stop the Violence 5K Run/Walk on Sat., April 22, at Railroad Park in Birmingham. Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the event will kick off at 11 a.m.

This event is designed to bring greater awareness of gun violence in the Greater Birmingham and surrounding areas. It also seeks to help support, strengthen and advocate for safer neighborhoods and communities.

The fee of $30 includes a T-shirt, wristband, event packet, water and snacks.

“The event will raise money to benefit Birmingham and surrounding area youth charities,” said Jimmy Moore, event coordinator.
