RIP former President George H.W. Bush

Bellerose, NY

It was sad to read of the passing of a most beloved former president, George H.W. Bush. Here was a WWII Navy war hero and a man dedicated to family, God and country, and wanting to give back all he was given in his life. George H.W. Bush wanted the United States to be a kinder and gentler nation. As president he faced many challenges. He was forced to make President Saddam Hussein leave Kuwait, who invaded the country. He did so with a coalition of countries that got the job done under the name Desert Storm. Under his watch we saw the end of the Cold War and the Soviet Union fall, and the fall of the Berlin Wall. We also saw economic troubles that troubled the president. In regard to taxes he said, "read my lips: no new taxes." But he was forced to go back on his word and did what had to be done for the good of the American people. Let me say this in closing:" Read my words," As a Vietnam-era Navy veteran I salute George H.W. Bush, who was a true American hero who believed in the rights of all Americans and wanted a better America.
