Bell ringing celebration to commemorate WWI

Leesburg, FL

In November 2018 our senior community had a bell ringing celebration to commemorate WW1. We had approximately 50 seniors present. The veterans – along with widows of veterans, a total of 21 people – rang the bell at 11 a.m., followed by the pledge to the flag, singing of the national anthem and prayer. We had a brunch to follow.
At 5 p.m. we had a dinner. A program was given with a table set for POW/MIA and explaining of the meaning of the table. We had a tree decorated with red, white and blue, with pictures of our living veterans hanging on it. We also had a table full of veteran memorandum. At the end of the program we had a patronage band for entertainment. At both events we collected $305.88 that we are sending to help build a memorial for the WWI veterans.
