Every year Post 272 holds an annual nonprofit luncheon where we honor and donate to many organizations nationally and in our community.
Not only do we consistently support Legion projects such as Boys State and Girls State, the NEF and department commanders' projects, but we always have scholarships for our local high school and grammar school. We also have a self-renewing scholarship for veterans at St. Thomas Aquinas College that keeps growing to support more vets every year.
Over the past 10 years, with our members working together we have been able to donate over $500,000 to veterans assistance and our community. Our post is struggling to get young blood, but under the guidance of Commander Fred Reiman we will continue to succeed to keep the the nonprofits going that help our vets, to the people in our community who support us all. This year we will be over $45,000 in donations to keep the help moving in this dire time in our country.
