Post holds VA health benefits meeting

Malta Bend, MO

Malta Bend Memorial Post 558 recently held a VA health benefits information meeting for area veterans and members of the post. The meeting was designed to inform veterans of the available health-care benefits provided by the VA, to assist those not in the system by signing up, and to help those who have problems with the health-care system. Richard Oseth, a health benefits adviser at Harry S. Truman VA Medical Center in Columbia, Mo., spoke about the hospital, available benefits, and answered many questions from those in attendance at the meeting. Oseth was able to sign up several veterans at the meeting as well.

A Marine veteran who served combat tours in Iraq and Afghanistan, Oseth related how he wanted to help his fellow veterans after his discharge from the Marines. He has been with VA for three years, and “enjoyed every minute of it”, since to him it has been and always will be an unparalleled experience.

Another special guest, Department of Missouri Commander Gary Grigsby, stopped by the meeting. He encouraged those in attendance to take advantage of the available VA health-care benefits.

At the end of the meeting Post 558 celebrated the Legion’s 103rd anniversary with a cake-cutting ceremony.
