15th Veterans Bridge Walk, Springfield (Va.) Post 176

The 15th Annual Springfield, Va., Bridge Walk was held Aug. 30, 2016, over the Veterans Bridge in Springfield leading to American Legion Post 176 at 6520 Amherst Ave., was a rousing success. There was a record crowd including a large contingent of soldiers from Fort Belvoir, along with a large commitment from Fairfax County. After the ceremonies on the flag court of Post 176, the crowd was treated to free barbecue sandwiches from Red Hot and Blue Restaurant, along with bottled water courtesy of Wegmans and Post 176. The Post 176 color guard led the walk, and Bob Borka, 2nd Vice, and Paul Kaeppel, Public Relations, stood out among the volunteers.
The color guard from Fort Belvoir and Post 176 Legion Riders were right behind the Post 176 color guard and helped lead the Bridge Walk. In attendance were Post 176 Commander Ed Amoros, vice commanders and several prominent post Legionnaires.
