Canines For Combat Veterans Walk-A-Thon-14 May 2011

Dept. of RI aux via Post 18 - Portsmouth, RI

On 14 May 2011, the DEPT OF RI AUXILIARY hosted a NEADS-Canines for Combat Veterans Walk-A-Thon at Ninigret Park in Charlestown, RI.

Many Legion and Auxiliary members were thrilled to finally meet RHODY as well as a contingent from NEADS including weekend puppy trainers and their service dogs-in-training. To learn more, follow link on our web site at www.americanlegionpost18ri.homestead.com.

Our heartfelt thanks go out to all of the walkers and donors/sponsors who helped make DEPT OF RI AUXILIARY President Marge Walsh's event a success! We appreciated learning more about this important program from the folks at NEADS and the trainers who spend time teaching the puppies about life in a domestic/neighborhood environment when the service dogs-in-training are "paroled" from the prison puppy program on weekends.

American Legion Post 18 and American Legion Auxiliary Unit 18 have been proud co-sponsors of the Canines for Combat Veterans program for the past 1+ years.
