On Thursday, June 15, 21 veterans from Hines VA Hospital, DuPage Convalescent Center and Heritage Woods Retirement Facility of Batavia, Ill., plus relatives and support staff, were treated to a 2-hour paddleboat ride on the Fox River in St. Charles, Ill. Supporting The American Legion were volunteers from the Be a Hero to a Hero Foundation of St. Charles. Veterans were treated to the river cruise, dinner, and a raffle for handmade blankets. The outing provided the opportunity for these veterans to get out of their daily environment, enjoy the camaraderie, tranquility and fresh evening air on the Fox River.
